Band, 1992-1998
Alternative and Rock
Rock band formed in 1992 in Thessaloniki, Greece. They took their name from two songs of the 70s: David Bowie’s 'Ziggy Stardust' and Bob Marley’s 'Johnny Was'. Their music style was a mixture of hardcore, punk, grunge, and metal with funk touches. The members of the band were very experienced as Kostas Karkalis was member of 'Γκούλαγκ' (Gulag) while Lambros Saltsidis was an ex-member of 'Λώλαμα' (Lolama). Kostas Pantelis who was the guitarist of 'Πίσσα Και Πούπουλα' (Pissa & Poupoula), joined the group as the lead guitarist later. In early 1993 they recorded a demo titled 'Oil Land', which attracted the interest of the local indie record label 'Lazy Dog Records'. After releasing a 7" single, a MiniLP and a full-length album, they finally sign to Virgin Greece in 1997 and released their second full-length album. After that they disbanded. Their first live performance was at 'Steki Filosofikis" (Thessaloniki) in April 1993. On 26/6/1993 they performed live at Pedio Areos (Athens), along with 'Deus Ex Machina (5)' & 'Εκτός Ελέγχου'. On 27/1/1995 they performed live at club Zero (Thessaloniki) along with 'Γκούλαγκ' & 'Λώλαμα'. Line-up: Kostas Karkalis (Drums) Panos Rossis (Vocals, Guitar) Lambros Saltsidis (Bass) Kostas Pantelis (Guitar)
