Zion was in fact Douglas Robert Ord, lead singer of a Colchester band called The Deepbeats and (as Dane Stephens) of The Fairies. He was signed by pop-production whizzkid Mark Wirtz, and became involved with his 'Teenage Opera' extravaganza. (from the booklet of the CD "V.A. - With The Sun In My Eyes" and "Mark Wirtz Pop Works").
