A.k.a. Zohrabai Ambalewali
Zohra (1918-90) from Ambala, belonged to the first generation playback singers of Hindi cinema in the 1930s and 1940s. She was trained in the Agra gharana of classical Hindustani music. Her career began as a radio artist, singing mainly classical and semi-classical numbers. After her debut in Hindi film she subsequently sang for music director Naushad under whom she produced most of her hits.
