Folk (Folk)
"Folk music from the Balkan has got a hardly definable feature. Each people living in this part of Europe (i.e. Albanians, Bulgarians, Yugoslavs, Greeks, Macedonians and Turks) have strongly influenced the culture of the others during so many centuries. Mentality and habits are based on the ground of their particularly sensitive inner world. Their tunes instinctively express rude and wild emotions as well as tender lyricism. Improvisation and free variations depending on the personality and mood of the performers, and coupled with complicated, odd rhythms and definitive melodic structures basically characterise this music of high intensity. The Zsarátnok (Embers) Ensemble have been considered with special distinction amongst folk music groups in Hungary for years, and due to many concerts and (folk) dance-house programmes they have earned increasing popularity amond young people."
