Since forming in early 2010, ALKIRA have made a name for themselves as a young and driven group of talented musicians with an energetic live show. Hailing from the small country town of Strathalbyn in the Adelaide Hills, this four-piece metal band have taken inspiration from all eras and incarnations of heavy metal and punk, with particular roots in old-school thrash, to developed a unique sound which can be appreciated by all fans of heavy music. In 2013 ALKIRA released their highly-acclaimed ‘Red Devil’ EP, which the band supported heavily through consistently touring to all corners of Australia, as well as around South-East Asia as the main support act for US thrashers HAVOK. ALKIRA were also awarded support slots for FEAR FACTORY (US), GRAVE (SWE), MUNICIPAL WASTE (US), WARBRINGER (US), KING PARROT (AUS), PSYCROPTIC (AUS) and many other high-profile acts. 2014 saw ALKIRA enter the studio to record their debut album ‘Juggernaut’, featuring 10 blisteringly aggressive yet diverse tracks, each of which fully live-up to the album’s title. Juggernaut has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response, with several high-profile magazines and websites putting it in contention for Best Album of 2014; “…quite possibly be the best thrash album of this year and possible the best thrash album of the past several years" (Echoes and Dust). Big things are on the horizon for ALKIRA, who have shown at a young age that they possess the talent and work-ethic to achieve all they set out to accomplish.
