Duo of Aaron Henderson (3) and Dan Hurd formed in Germany in 1990. Work alternated between electro and darkwave. Early on the group expanded and operated under various names - EM-21, Room 19, and finally Illuminati (not to be confused with Aaron's Las Vegas based band Illuminati (8)), and included in its line-up at various points Ron McKown, Craig Miller (2), Bruce Clark (3), and Mike Nolan (2). In 1993 the group relocated to Los Angeles but became bogged down in personality conflicts and disbanded in 1994. In 2000 the duo reformed and decided to delete the extraneous names and reissue all that material under the bEAT dEVICE name. They also outlined a number of projects but became inactive again after releasing just one final EP. In 2007 the duo was official announced as being disbanded, and in 2008 their final unissued recording was released as a secondary track on the EP I'm An Ocean.
