Hip-Hop/Rap
A.k.a. Ed Chester
Life-long hip hop junkie ED 209˚( a.k.a. superexstatic / 209˚ / 209 degrees ) makes hip hop that, according to his myspace page, sounds like "its supposed to, like it used to..." His influences read like a 'recipe' for that sound - 'a spoonful of this', 'a cup of that' go in to make a sound that hasn't forgot its history like the commercial face of contemporary Hip Hop... Like a 'Funky Potion' this recipe has been aged in the cask of 'life' guided by a spectrum of flavours...the Akai MPC, the Apple Mac, Large Pro, Nike Air Max & Air Raid, Hijack, Pete Rock, Bill Hicks, Mr Jago, Hoodlum Priest, Marley Marl, Appleseed, J Saul Kane, vinyl, Hardware, 45 King, positive attitudes, Silent Running, Bomb Squad, burning trees, Film Scores, the smell of new trainers, Frank Miller, Hijack, emotional loops, Diamond D, words, Ghostface, Silver Bullet, The U.N, heavy drums, Demon Boyz, P Brothers, Alan Partridge, Hardnoise, Blade Runner & Ultramagnetic. Releasing the SUPEREXSTATIC EP in 2001 was the answer to the inner call to 'stop moaning about what's up with hip hop and do something'... it formed the foundation for the EXSTATIC TRILOGY ( STILLEXSTATIC in 2004 and STAYEXSTATIC in 2007 ) working with Cappo, Konny Kon, C-Mone, eyezofman & A-Bomb. Ed's music development follows the path of a Bowie line 'I'm happy hope you're happy too' making music he would want to listen to ( what else is there ). The rest is history.
