evinrude was the non de plume of singer-songwriter, DJ, and multi-media artist Kevin Spyker (born Speicher). He took the name from the famous cartoon dragonfly in "The Rescuers." evinrude's 1997 debut CD, HOMEGROWN, was co-produced with Johnny J Blair (Davy Jones, Monkees) and engineered by John Bechdel (Killing Joke, Ministry). It received good notices and drew comparisons to Beck and Blind Melon. Spyker/evinrude toured around his home base of Pennsylvania to promote this CD, often with Johnny J Blair on bass and vocals. Spyker/evinrude produced a self-released follow up CD, going more into electronica. Eventually he dropped the evinrude name (partially to avoid confusion with The Evinrudes band). Currently he is performing and recording as Kevin Spyker, engaging in multi-media music projects and DJ-ing.
