American jazz double bassist and singer, also known as "Kid Twat", born December 25, 1907 in Algiers, New Orleans, Louisiana; died June 19, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Butler spent most of his career working with Kid Thomas Valentine (1940s–1980), but also played with Johnny Wiggs (1966), Sidney Desvigne, Armand J. Piron, De De Pierce (1963), Alvin Alcorn (1964), Earl Humphrey (1966), and Orange Kellin (1966–7). In the 1920s he also worked as a blues pianist and singer. Great uncle of Ronell Johnson.
