m.michele grew up in lithonia, ga with a voracious appetite for literature and an oversized imagination, but didn't start writing until she turned ten years old. m.michele began experimenting with short stories and novels, many of which will never be published, but it wasn't until she was introduced to the poetry of nikki giovanni did she find her calling. from that moment on, she was never too far from a notebook and a pen. blessed with the gift of imagery and courageous honesty, she honed her craft over the years but kept her pieces mostly to herself. she performed at an occasional open mic night, but never aspired to publish or produce her poetry until she discovered artists like floetry, j.ivy, and shihan and began to realize that she was not the only one who lived for spoken word. through a series of fortunate events, she linked up with STACE at fly company music group and began recording her poetry for the first time in 2010. her work can now be found on itunes and she takes pride and pleasure in speaking at scheduled performances and open mic nights. m.michele has a story to tell. it is comprised of a myriad of emotions and revelations, of mistakes and lessons, of tragedy and joy. her story is how her soul sings. to tell it is how she breathes.
