This 7" includes two different sunrise.sunset recording sessions: "The Unreleased Demos" and "The Sacrifice of Cupid" "The Unreleased Demos," as the name suggests, is comprised of songs that were never released. They were written and recorded in just one day, only a few months after "I Am the Ghost That Haunts You," and were meant for inclusion on a few different compilations. However, they were almost immediately forgotten about and then lost. They weren't discovered again until the summer of 2015. These tracks were mostly recorded in one-take and are extremely low-fi and rough. They sound more like the recordings from "I Am the Ghost..." than later recordings. "The Sacrifice of Cupid" was a 4-song cdr release, which included two weird extra secret tracks credited to sunset.sunrise. Only about 50 of these cdrs were made, and contained silk screened artwork. The songs are a departure from the heavier blown-out "I Am the Ghost..." release, but still sound distinctly like sunrise.sunset. The four tracks were later re-released with three additional songs to comprise the "Is This Progress?" EP, which was released in larger quantity and contained postcard artwork. BACKGROUND: sunrise.sunset was formed in December 2002 by the brothers Paul and Keith, and ended in 2005. The band was sometimes referred to as "terror-core." Although they were relatively obscure, they gained a loyal cult following from various and random locations around the world. All of their releases were/are available for free online, but physical versions were also released in small batches, which are difficult to come by. Officially, they put out 2 EP releases and 1 demo, but other random songs were sometimes circulated. They rarely played live, but when they did, they were accompanied by two additional members who played drums and keyboards.
