vMarkus is a Finnish-American electronic musician, composer, and performer. In the early 1980s, he began experimenting with combining found sounds and modified pianos with electronic noises created using random pieces of Radio Shack equipment. His first band was the electro-goth duo Burning Kafka, who released one cassette-single, as well as a demo cassette. Differences in musical direction saw the group disband, and vMarkus went on to join the industrial band Crocodile Shop, mainly as a live keyboardist. As the band often jokes, he never left. Taking on added music composing responsibilities, vMarkus worked in close collaboration with singer and musician Mick Hale to create the unique sound of the band, releasing several albums throughout the nineties and early 2000s. As a prolific musician, he has collaborated with a number of musicians and artists, and participated in several side projects including the noise-industrial unit Kunterfaust, drum-and-bass-inspired proGREX.iv (with fellow Crocodile Shop member Mick Hale, as well as George Sarah, Jared Hendrickson, and Sarah Folkman), and gothic art project The Appointed Time. Since 1998, he has recorded and experimented with various EDM genres as the solo-project Subliminal Gravity.
