Alternative TV: Dan Melchior, Dave Morgan, Greg Anderson , Mark Perry, Steve Carter, John Isaacs, Tyrone Thomas.Alternative TV's frontman Mark Perry may be better known for his landmark punk fanzine SNIFFIN' GLUE than for his musical achievements, yet Alternative TV certainly hold a corner in the pantheon of late-1970s/early-80s punk, a corner nicely summarized on the best-of compilation IN CONTROL. When making music, Perry admirably dispensed with the genre's often rigid rules by experimenting with pop, reggae, and art rock, going so far as to cover the Frank Zappa song "Plastic People." Led by Perry's snotty speak-sing, the band's gleefully unique take on punk is well represented on this 17-track set. ALTERNATIVE TV on this album: Mark Perry with Steve Carter, Lee McFadden, Tyronne Thomas, Graham Hullett, John Isaac, Siobhan Devigneau, Dave Morgan, Dan Melchoir and Greg Anderson. Despite advertised on the sticker as a 'best-of' album, this CD is a kind of extended re-issue of the Revolution album. Tracks 15, 3, 11, 4, 1, 6, 13, 14, 8, 16, 7, 10 are actually the Revolution album. Track 2 is taken from the Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue single. And tracks 5, 9, 12 and 17 are live tracks also released within Viva La Rock'n'Roll - Official ATV Bootleg!.
