Atarix, real name Sergey Khaninev, returns with a new album via renowed Trutypesounds underground imprint. An artist who has always preferred to explore new sonic grounds, in "Multiplicity" he has achieved another remarkable landmark, this time with a nod, respect and references to the underground club music scene & culture which had a great impact on this record. The album is themed around few things like multiplicity, diversity and variety of ways to achieve and create something, to put sound in a truly finished form, it took 3 years to finish the record, like the opening tune “Multiplicity” which had around 10-12 alterations in a constant change thru the years with no light at the end of the tunnel to be finally finished, despite this a damned colossus felt and the final version was born. Another aspects of framework which carries the tunes were head spaces/mind states of imaginary and real life locations, which gives a special feel, a certain kind of emotion, a footprint of that space and time. Take the “Frontiers” which sounds like beyond bizarre rave tune, a crossing between borders of deserted concrete ghetto and untouched nature of unearthly forest field zones (not even planet earth!), a hazy visions of near and distant hitech/lowlife future in “Dreamweb” and “Hot Dataline” (think Blade Runner, Ghost In The Shell and Johnny Mnemonic). After all the record can’t be complete without soul and emotions behind, very personal story “Be Here” is a hazy, shoegazer soundscape with distant vocals which shares similarities with the last tune on the record “Bystanders”, which is about time we live in, when the record you release is instantly forgotten by the listeners and chances to be heard are zero. In between are bangers like “Octagon”, which is a reinterpretation of a Berlin sound, a nod to a rich music culture of past, present and future, and then it’s New York City and Chicago in “Feel U”, (at first was a juke footwork tune) which is a headnod house stomper, a place you haven’t been yet, but wanna feel how it is, what NYC sound is about. Finally a “Poem” - zonal dub track with a story of a talented UK poet who wrote his last work, gave up and went into an ordinary life of broken dreams and bills to pay… a reminder to all of you to pursuit your goals, enjoy the ride and never give up. atarix.bandcamp.com
