From the text accompanying the mix - "Ahead of my alternative Roots set at Field Maneuvres, I've put together a selection of some of my favourite versions, loosely blended with authentic sound system fx and sirens. Most are from 30+ year old 45's but there's a few LP tracks too plus a couple of dubplate-only cuts that were never officially released. Many were Jah Shaka power plays for years and staples of his sets in the late 80's, early 90's when I first started getting into Roots Reggae properly and going to ‘Dances’. I tend to favour the uncompromising 'Warrior Style' or 'King David Style' that Shaka championed, so this is a session of seriously bass-heavy material that brings back many happy memories for me, but also a selection I think anyone with even a passing interest in Reggae or Black Dance Music in general can appreciate.
