Carmen credits her first success to the Rhumba King himself, Xavier Cugat, who picked her from 150 girls. Carmen worked and learned show business with Cugat, and leaving the band she was starred in one of the many shows produced by Monte Proser. It was Monte who changed her name to CARMEN D'ORO (gold Carmen). In recent years CARMEN has played such lounges as The Sands, The Stardust and The Sahara in Las Vegas, as well as Harvey's and Cal Neva at Lake Tahoe and many times back in all the major hotels in Puerto Rico. Even as this album is being pressed, CARMEN and her group are entertaining our troops in Viet Nam for the fourth time. Carmen D'Oro is an actress, known for The Man Called X (1956).
