Clemilda was born in São José da Laje, Alagoas. Known as the "Queen of Forró", Clemilda is mentioned in the Encyclopedia of Latin American Popular Music as one of the best forró singers in Brazil, along with Luiz Gonzaga and Genival Lacerda.
