Jazz and Pop (Space-Age)
Cat# on covers and spine: MG 20649 Cat# on labels: MG-20649 A product of Mercury Record Corporation. Printed in U.S.A. A custom Long-Playing Hi-Fidelity recording. Recorded both monaurally and in stereo at Universal Recording Corporation, Chicago, Illinois. The following microphones were used: Bass, Altec 639; Piano, Telefunken KM 56; Drums, Telefunken M931; Guitar, direct feed from the amplifier and rhythm, RCA 77 DX; Reeds, Telefunken M49; Viola, Telefunken U-47; Marimba & Vibes #1, RCA 44BX; Brass, Telefunken U-47; Orchestra Bells Tympani, RCA 44BX. Individual echo chambers were used on the left and right sections. The orchestra was set up in such a fashion so that all of the instruments on the left were grouped together, and all on the right were grouped together. Studio "A", which was used for this session, is a relatively live studio. It is considered one of the best in the country for recording stereo, and yet, through skillful microphone placement, maximum isolation was obtained between left and right channels. The session was recorded on an Ampex model 350-2 tape recorder at 15 inches per second. Track A1 published by Famous Music Corp. (ASCAP). Track A2 published by Randolph Music (ASCAP). Track A3 published by B & F Music (BMI). Track A4 published by Peer International (BMI). Track A5, A6 published by Stereo Music Corp. (BMI). Track A7 published by Advanced Music Corp .(ASCAP).
