A.k.a. Edward Taylor
British jazz drummer. Born: 1929 in Oldham, Lancashire, England, UK. Taylor served in the RAF between 1947–1949, then began drumming in local bands. He joined the The Johnny Dankworth Seven in 1951, staying for two years. From 1954 to 1956 he worked with Tommy Whittle in his popular quintet with Harry Klein. He then had a long spell from 1956 to 1964 with the Humphrey Lyttelton mainstream band. Thereafter he freelanced in a wide range of musical situations including, cruising, studio recording work, and theatre work until 1980. He continued freelancing through to the 2000s, working with Bruce Turner, John Chilton, and Humphrey Lyttelton again.
