Snuffy Walden and Dean Parks Massive dedication box to the famous writer released at the time of legendary author's birthday last fall which is dedicated to four soundtracks, three which were previously released by Varese Sarabande (Dreamcatcher, Firestarter and The Stand) and the fourth making it's long awaited debut from the ABC mini-series from 1997, The Shining. The possible fifth album, Dolores Claiborne by Danny Elfman, which has been subject of Varese Club speculation is not included despite the book being written by King as well. Dreamcatcher by James Newton Howard is largely expanded from its original 40 Minute release from 2003 to over 90 Minutes. The Stand by W.G. Snuffy Walden has also been expanded from its original 47 Minute album released in 1994 to over 80 Minutes with the music personally selected by Walden himself from the massive score that he had written for the epic mini-series. Firestarter by Tangerine Dream is a straight reissue (no additional music) of both the original 1984 MCA Soundtrack album and Varese's 1990 CD premiere of the 1984 album to CD format which eventually went out of print in the early 2000's and instantly became a collector's item. The Shining from the 1997 ABC Mini-series starring Steven Weber and Rebecca DeMornay is the box's major highlight with the first official release of Nicholas Pike's music to the public. A 47 Minute promotional disc featuring highlights from the massive score was all that was available as a composer promo for over 20 years. Pike's selections from the score take up to three discs which run close to two and a half hours of music featured in the series. The box is a limited edition coming in a digipak box that looks like one of King's books with nice artwork and features liner notes by the esteemed Randall Larson for each score featured.
