Recorded 13 - 14 September 1948 in the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam. Early US version for this cat#. LABELS: - dark maroon labels with gold and silver print - deep 'groove' in label area - ® + fffr + ear on top - "full frequency range recording" framed by two lines - "RECORDED IN EUROPE" - "made in u.s.a." - Matrix numbers printed upside-down SLEEVE: - Heavy cardboard, not laminated - Spine has no text on it - "Coypright 1949 by The London Gramophone Corporation, New York 10, N.Y." on back - "Printed in U.S.A." on back 1st cat# on sleeve. 2nd cat# on labels. No track duration info on sleeve or labels. Charles Munch is spelled "Charles Münch" on the sleeve and "Charles Munch" on labels. This was the first long playing record issued by London Records. It was released simultaneously with the 'conventional' shellac version.
