Album US 1999 on Silva America label
Classical and Soundtrack (Modern, Neo-Classical, Score)
Dolby Surround Encoded Score of the movie "Raise The Titanic" directed by Jerry Jameson (1980). Recorded at Smecky Studios, Prague, June 1999. Edited & Mastered at SRT / St.Ives / Cambridge. Manuscript Coordination: Rutland Music / Tadlow Music. Score published by ATV / Sony Music. Producer's Note: "Having produced 4 albums of John Barry's music for Silva Screen Records - Including a suite from "Raise The Titanic" - I have been approached on numerous occasions over the years about the possibility of recording the complete score. Why? When it is a fairly recent film and surely the original sessions tapes exist? Having myself spent years trying to track down these tapes - including spending many "happy" hours going through crates of material stored at Heathrow Airport - it would appear, with the exception of the "Music & Effects" tracks, these masters have been "mislaid"! So, in order to satisfy the demand from both Barry, and soundtracks fans in general, Silva Screen decided to commission Nic Raine - the accepted expert on John Barry's music having worked on the orchestrations of many of his films in the past 10 years - to reconstruct and arranged the complete score. While being something of an Herculean task, Nic relished the "job", especially when it came to conducting the recording sessions in Prague. Recording sessions are often very fraught and tense affairs and in my experience seldom go as smoothly as planned or even hoped, but this group of sessions were amongst the most enjoyable and tension-free, thanks to the skill and musicality of the Czech musicians and particularly the enthusiasm and good-humour of Nic Raine and all the production team."
