Single UK 2003 on Radioactive label
Alternative (Heavy Metal, Punk)
Comes on blue marbled vinyl in a unique coloured cover with a round sticker. Record Collector Magazine January '10: This is the rarest Metallica record pressed in the UK. In 2002, Johnny Ramone asked Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett to get the band to contribute a track to the 'Happy Family' tribute album. Metallica prefaced a secret gig (under the name Spun) in San Francisco on June 4th 2002 with 6 Ramones songs: "Commando", "Today Your Love, Tomorrow The World", "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", "We're A Happy Family", "Cretin Hop" and "53rd & 3rd". They recorded the last track in the studio for the tribute album. Typically, in the UK, Columbia thought they would cash in on Metallica's popularity by issuing it as a single in 2003, along with 2 other tracks by Green Day and Offspring. Metallica, or their management, stepped in to withdraw the single from release. This then is a mega-rarity. We're unsure how many copies were pressed but, as they come up for sale so infrequently, there can't be that many.
