The Psycho-Kat was the name used by New Zealand musician Tracey Pagey for the solo music she recorded for and with the kRkRkRk recordings label between mid 1994 and late 1996. Pagey's solo work followed her involvement with the skewed pop-cabaret four-piece Spastic Crunch between late 1993 & mid 1994, and with the typical DIY approach of kRkRkRk, involved guitars, keyboards, drum machines, and bits of metal. Whilst on the one hand, her metal percussion and distorted synth drones created sounds reminiscent of early Neubauten, she also explored more subtle meditative compositions which layered ethereal vocals, wind instruments, and understated tape and delay peddle loops.
