The 27 Trombones that earned one of DOWN BEAT rare 5 ***** reviews Track 1 recorded New York, December 26, 1958. Tracks 2, 4, & 12 (partially) recorded New York, December 29, 1958. Tracks 3, 5 recorded New York, December 31, 1958. Tracks 6, 9, 10 &12 (partially) recorded December 5, 1958. Tracks 7, 8, 11 recorded Los Angeles December 3, 1958. Track 12 wasn't included on the original LP, but on a rare and long out of print 1960 compilation titles " Jazz Festival In Stereo". According to the Tom Lord Discography, it is an edited performance combining takes from both December 5 and December 31 sessions, so it's difficult to be precise on the exact personnel.
