Recorded 2 May 1945 (tracks A1.a to A2.f), 27 February 1946 (track A3) and 24 - 26 February 1961 (tracks B1.a to B3.c). Recorded at Decca Studios, West Hampstead, with the exception of track A2, recorded in Kingsway Hall, London. From the sleeve: "Side one of this record has been dubbed from old 78 RPM records and was not, therefore, recorded in stereo. However, on SXL 2299 the grooves have been cut on the stereo cutter to give a realistic spread of sound." Side 2 is a genuine stereo recording. First UK stereo issue. LABELS: - black/silver 'grooved wideband' labels, "ORIGINAL RECORDING BY" at 11 o'clock (labelography code: ED1) - "ffss" logo in a circle - "FULL FREQUENCY STEREOPHONIC SOUND" in wide silver band - "Made in England" at bottom - "O/T" - Matrix numbers printed upside-down - "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1961" SLEEVE: - Front laminated, straight flipbacks sleeve - Thin spine with no text on it - Large "STEREO" along with cat# on front top left - Boxed Decca logo on front of sleeve - "Printed in England by Robert Stace" on back of sleeve 1st cat# on sleeve. 2nd cat# on labels. PUBLISHERS: Hawkes & Son: for tracks A2.b, A2.d Boosey & Hawkes: for tracks A2.a, A2.c Corresponding mono issue has cat# LXT 5663 Contains 2-page insert with lyrics translated to English.
