LABELS: - Dark maroon coloured labels with silver print - Deep 'groove' in label area - NO "VENDOR" text on labels SLEEVE: - "PRINTED IN U.S.A." on back - Sleeve notes in English only on back OTHER INFORMATION: - Schumann Piano Concert was recorded April 21-23, 1962, at Edison High School. - Variations on a theme by Clara Wieck and Arabesque were recorded at Fine Recording Studio A, New York City on December 19, 1963. - Corresponding mono issue has cat# MG50383 The Schumann Piano Concerto was the last Mercury MSO session and it took place April 21-23, 1962, at Edison High School, see Mercury Living Presence and Minneapolis by Thomas Fine. "The auditorium was discovered too late, after a decade of wrestling with Northrop’s cavernous size and dry acoustics. The Mercury-MSO relationship ended on a high note: Pianist Byron Janis recorded a lovely rendering of Schumann’s Piano Concerto...."
